How the word counter works
Paste any text — a ChatGPT answer, an email draft, an essay — and the counter fills as you paste. Words are split on whitespace, so a pasted blob with odd spacing still counts correctly. Characters are counted with and without spaces, sentences are split on punctuation, and paragraphs on blank lines.
Tokens are estimated at roughly 4 characters per token, close to what GPT-4o and Claude use for English text. Use them as a guide for context windows, not an exact bill.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored, and there is no limit on length.
